Community Forklift: Executive Director

Trey Davis has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the land use and nonprofit industries, having most recently served as the Vice President of Membership and Marketing for the Urban Land Institute. He began his career as an urban planner in James City County, VA, and earned an MBA from Georgetown and a BA from Duke University. He has also taught courses on sustainable development.
Davis is a data-driven strategist, a problem-solver, and a persuasive leader with board and management experience and proven results in product development, multichannel marketing, P&L oversight, and operations. He is also a builder – whether in the office, field or workshop, he thrives when crafting and refining products, systems and services that endure. The member offerings he enhanced remain vibrant, the houses he repaired still stand, the locomotive he helped restore still runs, and the canoe he built still floats. Davis’s areas of focus remain those about which he cares deeply – the built environment, land use, design, transportation, LGBTQ+ issues, and historic preservation. Read more about Trey.
