RAICES (Texas): Chief Human Resources Officer

Kim Mattheson is a Human Resources professional with over 20 years of experience working in higher education, legal services, social services and healthcare. Her areas of expertise include: Training Curriculum and Facilitation; Employee Relations; Regulatory Compliance and Records Management; Benefits Administration; and Project Management.
Prior to joining RAICES, Mattheson served as the President of Human Resources at HCA Healthcare, providing Strategic HR And Talent Consulting to the Executive Team at the San Antonio corporate office and HCA lines of business within their divisions. During her six years at HCA Healthcare, Mattheson partnered with the executive leadership team to analyze and prioritize the critical business challenges faced by the organization and deploy appropriate HR interventions in collaboration with appropriate center of excellence team members, including staffing/labor management; acquisitions and vendor relations; organizational development; and employee engagement.
Mattheson has held a number of other positions in the field of Human Resources, including Director of Human Resources and Risk Management at Boysville Inc. and, subsequently, HR Administrator at Texas Lutheran University, where she was responsible for guiding and managing the overall provision of Human Resources services and policies for higher education and not-for-profit, social-services agencies.
Today, Mattheson leads RAICES in managing talent development and human capital initiatives for the organization. She assists in developing the organization’s plans and programs, particularly from the perspective of the impact on people. Mattheson coaches and leads the HR team to deliver excellence and efficiencies in all aspects of the organization’s day-to-day and overall HR and recruiting operations including, but not limited to, talent acquisition, onboarding and exit interviews, leadership development, training, benefits management, compensation planning, policy setting, performance evaluations, employee relations, and employee engagement.
Mattheson has held a certification as Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) since 2011 and was certified for the new SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designation in 2015. She earned an LLM in Health Law and Policy from Hofstra University and a joint J.D./M.B.A. Law/Business degree from Nova Southeastern University.
